Mrs. Cowden retired from AT&T and was a lifelong member of the former Fourth Avenue Baptist Church. After moving to St. Martins in the Pines, she worshiped regularly at the chapel and was involved in numerous bible studies. She played the piano beautifully and would often entertain her friends with her music and her lively personality.
Mrs. Cowden was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harry Cowden and her brothers: Ellis C. Masters, Jr., Stanford Masters and Joseph L. Masters. She is survived by her niece: Romona Shannon and her husband James Shannon, Jr.; her nephew: Stanford Ellis Masters and his wife Kimberly Masters; 2 great nieces: Julia Anne Masters and Reilly Masters and 1 great nephew: James Shannon, III.
A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held in the Chapel of St. Martins in the Pines at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013.
In lieu of memorials the family asks that you pause and toast the uplifting life of Helen Cowden, who lived her life with joy and happiness that she gracefully shared with others.
