

Henry Franklin Brown, age 76, passed away August 15, 2016, from congestive heart failure and a year-long battle with kidney cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula Brown Goddard (George) and Lloyd Franklin Brown , of Birmingham, AL and sister, Loretta Goddard Edwards of Marietta, GA. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Judy Scheinert Brown; his daughters Laura Brown Rhodes (John), Leigh Brown Dorrough (Todd) and Linda Brown; his grandchildren Patrick Rhodes, Daniel Rhodes, Evan Dorrough, Owen Dorrough and Vivian Dorrough of Birmingham, AL; and sisters Lillie Brown Kelly (Joe) of Enterprise, AL and Marilyn Brown Gray (Tim) of Pinson, AL, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University), was a member of Delta Chi fraternity, and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1964. He served as first lieutenant in the First Infantry Division (Big Red One) with the US Army and served in the Vietnam War from May 1965- October 1966. He enjoyed a successful career in Mechanical Engineering for over 50 years, working for corporations such as U.S. Steel, Vulcan Materials, Rust Engineering, Washington Group and KBR. Additionally, he with two business partners, opened their own consulting firm, Brown, Coupland and Lowe, through which he continued to work until Spring 2016. A member and deacon of First Lutheran Church for many years, he was a godly man who served the Lord with gladness, consistently demonstrated his strong Christian faith, and was not afraid to share it with others. He excelled as a husband, father, and grandfather, and was a devoted friend and a mentor to many. He enjoyed sharing a joke and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor He was a man who knew a lot about many things and was a constant source of information for those who knew him. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many. Visitation will be Friday Aug. 19,2016 from 9:00 am to 11:00 at First Lutheran Church with the funeral services held immediately following visitation at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Thomas Lampella officiating. Graveside will be at 2:45 P.M. at the National Cemetery in Montevallo.
