

Mr. Clanton served in the Army during WWII and received the Bronze Star; retired from Frisco/Burlington Northern Railroad; was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church for 40 years. He has been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 12 years.
Mr. Clanton was preceded in death by his wife: Annette Clanton, parents: Jarvis H. and Dolly Clanton, sisters: Geneva Clanton Ashcraft, Leona Clanton Hale, Eunice Clanton, and brother: Ulon Clanton.
He is survived by two sons: John (Hazel) Clanton and Marvin Claytor, both of Birmingham Alabama, four Grandchildren: Tina (Eric) Davis Athens, AL, Darrell Clanton, Karen Clanton, Shellie (Beau) Talley all of Birmingham, AL, six Great-Grand Children: Erin and Nathan Davis Huntsville AL, Sydney Elkins, Graeson, Baylan and Brysan Clanton of Birmingham, AL, two Great- Great Grand Children: Rylee Davis and Dallas Meeks of Athens, Alabama, nieces: Elizabeth (Don) Bailey Spanish Fort, AL, Gloria (Fred) Glover Tuscaloosa, AL, and Doris Ashcraft, Fort Worth, TX and nephew Jimmy Clanton.
Visitation for Mr. Clanton will be Tuesday, December 20, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Andrew Wolfe with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
