

James Edward Landers, Sr., age 92, of Hoover passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born May 7, 1930 in Birmingham to Edwin R. Landers and Winifred Gibson Landers. After serving in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1951 through 1953, he attended and graduated from Howard College School of Pharmacy where he was a member of Kappa Psi and Rho Chi Honorary Pharmacy Fraternity.
Mr. Landers spent 42 years as a pharmacist in Birmingham in both retail and hospital pharmacy and was a founding member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Mr. Landers is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane Segars Landers, and sons James, Jr., of Birmingham, Luke (Ann) of Dothan, and Joseph (Diane) of Montevallo. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ellis, Margaret, Caroline and William Landers as well as his nephew, Richard Stallworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Barbara, Janet and Marilyn along with his niece, Carol McMillan.
A celebration of his life will take place at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 2901 Columbiana Road in Vestavia Hills with visitation beginning at nine thirty in the morning and the service following at ten thirty in the morning on Saturday, July 23, 2022. The family requests that memorials in memory of Mr. Landers be given to Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
