

Jacqueline Diane McFarland, age 82 of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Monday, August 25, 2025, after a long illness. At the time, she was living with and being cared for by her son and his family.
Jackie was born in Birmingham in 1943 to Jack and Cooper McFarland. She attended Shades Cahaba Elementary School and Shades Valley High School in Homewood, Alabama before receiving her BA degree in Education from Howard College, and her master’s degree in counseling from Samford University. Her first teaching position was with the Bessemer School District.
Jackie was a devoted and active member of two churches in the Birmingham area (Valley Christian Church and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Cooper McFarland; her daughter, Nancy Katherine Daugherty; her grandson, Charles Rogers Daugherty; and by her nephew, Michael L. Dwyer, IV. She is survived by her son, William Stanley Daugherty; daughter-in-law, Traci Lynn Daugherty; her sister, Nancy Jane McFarland Dwyer; brother-in-law, Michael L. Dwyer, III; nephew, Jack McFarland Dwyer; and four grandsons, Jackson Alexander Daugherty, Andrew Cameron Daugherty, Jacob Edward Daugherty, and Aron Daugherty.
The Memorial Mass will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30th, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church located at 5514 Double Oak Lane, Birmingham, Alabama 35242. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the service, the committal prayers for Ms. McFarland will be conducted at Elmwood Cemetery.
