

Mrs Jean B Morris was born in Dallas, Texas on November 3, 1923, and went in peace to her rest in Jesus Christ on October 24, 2017. Jean grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended LSU where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and Lamda Intersorority. Jean was a stewardess for Delta Airlines and life member of Clipped Wings. She married the late Joe Morris in 1953. They moved to Birmingham in 1960. During the following years, she volunteered and was active in many organizations in the community including St. Luke Episcopal, the first Pink Lady Class at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Crisis Center Rape Response, Botanical Gardens Fiesta, the Cancer Society’s Mad Hatters Luncheon Board and Birmingham Museum of Art Volunteer Council and St Ann’s Guild. She was a member of Spain Rehabilitation Center Women’s Board until her death. She established the Jean B Morris Endowed Professorship in Honor of Chi-Tsou Huang, MD for Excellence in Clinical Care, Research and Teaching. In 2008, she received the McCallum Award from UAB.
She personally assisted her dearest friend, Mother Mary Angelica, PCPA, in the founding of EWTN. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows and was close to Our Lady of the Angels Monastery, Hanceville, Al.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia B Reed, devoted niece, Tena R Wallace (David) and dear friend, Rev.Fr. Alejandro Valladares.
A visitation will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 6:00pm with a Rosary at 7:30pm; Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00am followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Angels Monastery, Hanceville, AL, Spain Rehab, or the Birmingham Humane Society.
