Jerry Glen Arnold

Jerry Glen Arnold born September 1, 1939 in Murfreesboro, TN to parents; Virginia and Willie Arnold. Jerry Glen had a very happy childhood and spent most of his formative years in Oak Ridge, TN. He attended Middle Tennessee State University for one year, and then spent two years in the US Army. Most of that time was spent as a Military Policeman at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, Alabama.

Jerry Glen married Sarah “Ellen” Jones on April 8, 1961 in Chattanooga, TN while he was serving in the Army at Ft. McClellan. They remained happily married for 53 years.

Jerry Glen began his career at IBM in 1966 in Huntsville, Alabama, worked 4 years in Shreveport, LA, and later retired in 1994 in Birmingham, Alabama. He felt these were the happiest years of his adult life. After retirement, he bought and developed raw land into his beloved horse farm in Chelsea, AL.

In October, 2015 he married Sylvia Helfrick. Jerry Glen and Sylvia worked together at IBM for many years. They were blessed with 10 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; sons, Jerome (Kerri) and Darrel (Debbie); step daughter, Shirley Chumley (Rusty); grandchildren - Rachel (Ben), Scott and Sutton (Bryson); and 1 great-grandson – Brecken

Jerry Glen was predeceased by his parents, his wife Ellen, two brothers (Dirk and Ellis Arnold) and step son Mike Seale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Big Oak Ranch www.bigoak.org. A visitation Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, will be held at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209. A private burial will be held at a later date.
