John Clopton

John Albert Clopton, Jr died February 29, 2020. He was born July 10, 1945 at Ft. Lewis, WA to John Albert and Margery Hogg Clopton. John is survived by his wife, Susan, his children John A. Clopton III (Kelley) and Elizabeth Ann Clopton, and his grandchildren Jesse Elizabeth Clopton and Jacob Bryant Martin (Sally). He is also survived by his sisters Millou Callahan (Don), Ann Pierce (Bobby) with daughter Jessica, and Mary Jane Hathaway with son JW. His family also includes Nancy and Doug Fisher, Carol Kelly, Laura Sisson, Bob Boyer, Merry Bearden (Stan), Bob Boyer, Paul Boyer, and Patricia and Shelly Wiggins, along with all their children and grandchildren.

John graduated from Alabama College and taught school in Green Cove Springs, FL, Bethesda, MD, and Evergreen, Bessemer, and Hoover, AL. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Preventive Medicine Tech at Bethesda Naval Hospital. John’s many interests included model train building, gardening, photography, and collecting stamps, coins, and books. The family thanks the doctors and staff of Bruno Cancer Center at St. Vincent’s for their care, with special gratitude to the nursing staff of 4 South.
