

Passed away on January 24,2011 after a short illness. He was born in Birmingham, AL, August 17,1926. Attended Crestline Heights Grammar School and Baylor Military Academy in Chattanooga ,Tn.. Served in United States Army Air Corps During WWII as a flight engineer in the Pacific area, ending up on the Island of Hokido, Japan. After his military discharge he attended Auburn University (formerly API) social Fraternity Alpha Tau Omega, and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1950. He was employed by Southern Company Services Inc, in 1951. Retired from the company in August 1986 as Engineering Power Systems Analyst, Electrical Design. While employed he attended Birmingham School of Law and received his Bachelors of Law in 1958, also licensed Professional Engineer in Alabama.
John was born to Ruth Thompson and Aaron Montgomery Woodall of Birmingham. He is survived by his wife of 59 Years , Eulala "Eukie" Mcnutt Woodall and a cousin Fletcher Thompson of Marietta, Ga.
He was an avid golfer at Vestavia Country Club, member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church, American Legion, IEE, and other business organizations.
A memorial service will be held at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church Friday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund 3405 Brookwood Rd, Birmingham, Al 35223 is requested or to a charity of your choice.
Services are under the direction of Ridot's Valley Chapel, Homewood, Al.
