

Jordan Edwin Brooks III of Mt Brook, AL passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 after a 15 year courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia Pennel Brooks, his two children, Mary Catherine Brooks Stiers (Bill) of Alexandria, VA and Jordan Edwin Brooks IV, of Annapolis, MD, his beloved grandchildren, Will and Mary Adeline Stiers, two sisters, May Brooks Wingate (Kelly); Kay Brooks Hilliard (David) and one brother, Woodrow W. Brooks, his brother in law and sister in law, Mary Catherine and Jerry White, numerous aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. Jordan was born January 8, 1941 in Camilla, Georgia to Evelyn and J. Edwin Brooks, Jr. He graduated from Mitchell County High School and the University of Alabama where he majored in economics. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Jordan enjoyed the outdoors and developed a love for hunting at an early age and became an accomplished wing shooter. He was a devout follower of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team. He loved spending time in Destin, FL , and most especially loved being "Poppy" to his beloved grandchildren. He was in the investment banking business in Birmingham for 45 years. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Mollie deShazo and her oncology team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11:00 am at St Lukes Episcopal Church, Montrose Road with visitation following the service in the Founders Room.
