

Born in Bessemer, Alabama on December 11, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Gavin Howton and Willie Lucille Bailey Howton. She was a graduate of Bessemer High School and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Alabaster, Alabama. For Joy, her family was the most important thing in her life.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Olney, Jr. and by her sister, Betty Waters. She is survived by 4 children, Lynn Wickett (Paul), David Lee (Jo), Donna Brooks (Ken), and Chris Olney (Peggy); sister, Teresa Satterfield; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Perry, Blake Lee, Tracy Hopkins (Charles), Paul Wickett, Jr. (Kristen),Gavin Brooks (Leigh), Tammie Jenkins Tarpley, and Dewayne Jenkins; great grandchildren, Peyton Perry, Tucker Perry, Sawyer Perry, Hunter Geeslin (Katelyn), Joseph Geeslin (Kallie), Molly Brooks, Maverick Brooks, Melinda Henderson, Kellie Jenkins, Cody Jenkins, Ethan Wickett, Jackson Wickett, Jaylen Hopkins, McKenzie Hopkins, Jordan Hopkins, and Kaleb Hopkins; and by her sweet Grand Dog, Raven.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Monday, August 5th, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Ridout's Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. Graveside services will then be held immediately following at Ridout's Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham.
