

HELENA, ALABAMA - Lanie William Crowe, age 71, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 after a long illness. He was born on November 21, 1939 in Springhill, Louisiana to Lanie Seay and Helene Diggle Crowe.
Lanie was a graduate of Bastrop High School in Bastrop, Louisiana and attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. Lanie was also a Veteran of the US Army having served in the demilitarized zone in Korea. He was a Freemason and proud member of both the Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was retired after many years as a Construction Engineer. During his career he traveled extensively in Europe and the Middle East and for a time lived in Nigeria. Lanie was full of energy, he had a sharp wit and enjoyed bird hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew, Gregory Winter Reed, and one niece, Laney Carol Reed.
Lanie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Owen Crowe; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Anne and Roy Hendricks of Amite, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Carl Seay and Holly Ruth Crowe of Bentonville, Arkansas; son and daughter-in-law, Lanie William and Lori Williamson Crowe of Helena, Alabama; daughter and son-in-law Johanna Crowe and Robert Trent Estes of Birmingham, Alabama; his grandchildren, Andrew Seay Crowe of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Cameron Brewer Crowe of Bentonville, Arkansas; Alexandria Noelle Crowe of Helena, Alabama; Christopher Shay Crowe of Helena, Alabama and Aidan Reese Estes of Birmingham, Alabama; niece, Melissa Reed and husband Van Easley, their children and grandchildren all of Louisiana.
Services will be held at 2PM Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama.
