Lori Michelle Quick departed this earth to her heavenly home on September 18th, 2023, aged 53, after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 8th, 1970 to Deborah and Richard Busby in Birmingham, Alabama. Known as "Chel" to those closest to her, she was a beloved mom, sister, aunt, cousin, and daughter. She was described by her loved ones as intelligent, stubborn, unapologetically honest, yet humble and loyal. Our "Chel" was a pillar in our family that will be considerably missed.
Michelle was raised in Tarrant, Alabama as the oldest of three sisters. She made many lifelong friends during her adolescence, including her former husband and forever best friend Jeff Quick, whom she met when she was 13 years old. Michelle loved recounting stories of her time at Tarrant High School, class of 1988, where she was a majorette. She would go on to earn a bachelor's degree in Finance at Birmingham Southern College, and eventually her MBA at University of North Alabama.
Michelle was a devoted mother to three children: Jeffery Dylan, Sara Kaytlan (Kayti), and Laura Brooklan (Brooke). She was always proud of her kids and often referred to them as “the three best kids in the world”. Michelle knew she wanted to be a mom from a young age and took great joy in raising her children. She never missed a ballgame or dance recital and was always supportive of her children's hobbies. It was with great pleasure that she was able to witness her three kids grow into adulthood and develop their own unique personalities that she helped shape.
Michelle valued time with her family and made it a priority. She enjoyed kayaking and being outdoors. She made it her mission to complete her bucket list and took many trips; including a trip to the historic and diverse Los Angeles with her children, the scenic mountains in Montana, and the complex and rich beauties of her country along Route 66. Michelle was extremely passionate about Alabama football and would never give up a Saturday to miss a game day. She also described herself as "dog mom" to her three four-legged children Madylan, Colt Bennett, and Sadie. She attended County Line Baptist Church, whose services offered her an opportunity to worship and find solace during her illness.
A Celebration of Michelle's Life will be on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 10a.m. at County Line Baptist Church in Trafford, Al. Though her life ended short, 'Chel lived abundantly and left a profound legacy.
Michelle is preceded in death by grandmother, Dorothy Mae Moore. She is survived by her three children Dylan Quick, Kayti Quick (David Young), and Brooke Quick (Blake Thomas), former husband Jeffery Quick, parents Richard and Deborah Busby, siblings Melanie Busby(Thomas Dunning) and Mia Henderson (Chris), nephews Cooper Henderson and Liam Busby, nieces Chloe and Caroline Henderson, great aunt Margie Payton and cousin Annette Griffith (Randy) as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
