

Louise Floyd Freeman, age 89, of Vestavia was born April 14, 1930 and died February 28, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marguerite Henderson Floyd and Henry Grady Floyd, her brother, Walter Henderson Floyd, and her husband, George Chambliss Freeman. She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Freeman Lane and her husband, Joseph E. Lane, her son, George Henry Freeman, and his wife, Deborah Walker Freeman, and her grandchildren, Grady Walker Freeman, Anna Louise Lane, and Mary Elizabeth Lane. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Peggy McLendon (William) of Montgomery, and Mary Ruth Freeman and Margaret Freeman of Birmingham, and many nieces and nephews.
Louise graduated from Edgewood Grammar School, Phillips High School, and attended Auburn University for two years. She married George in 1949, and began her career in banking. She worked in various banks over a 50 year period, beginning in 1949 at the Bank for Savings and Trust and ending at Colonial Bank in 2000. She did not work for 15 years during that time because she left work to enjoy being with her family.
The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020, followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery beginning at 11:30 a.m. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Katherine Harper of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Birmingham. We especially thank her neighbors, friends, and all those who helped care for her for their love and support.
