Peggy graduated from Shades Valley High School and attended Stephens College and the University of Alabama. After marrying, David Napier Sington, and settling in Huntsville, she became a member of First Christian Church active with the Esther Circle helping with hospitality for many years. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority, the Grace Club Auxiliary, the Junior League, and Les Joyuese. Peggy was a loving daughter, ever present as a sister, a joyful and admiring wife, a caring and thoughtful mother and perhaps her favorite and most fulfilling role was as grandmother, Mimi, to Megan and Claire. Peggy was a friend to many and kind to all.
She moved to Kirkwood by the River in Birmingham and thoroughly enjoyed a caring experience in a loving and kind environment. Peggy enjoyed all the wonderful entertainment with her dear friend Trigger Butler, whose friendship is cherished. A special thanks to all the wonderful Kirkwood staff and to Kathy Jones who remains our caregiver and family friend.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sarah Jane Horton, brothers Charles and Ed Payne, and her husband David of 53 years. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Sington Daily (Jay) of Birmingham AL and her son Dee Sington of Huntsville AL; her granddaughters Megan Daily, New Orleans LA, Claire Daily Elliott (Owen) and their children Margot and Graham, Birmingham AL; and many loved nieces and nephews and close family friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Kirkwood by the River Chapel on Friday, October 18th, 2024. Friends and family are invited to greet the family between 1:00 and 2:00 with a service being held at 2 pm. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 3209 Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville AL 35802, or charity of your choice.
