

Marie Lauder Teague, age 88, a native of Orange Beach, AL and longtime resident of Hoover, AL peacefully passed away August 27th, 2024. Born in Foley on July 6, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ronald James Lauder and Eleanor Callaway Lauder of Orange Beach. She graduated from Foley High School in 1954 where she was the drum majorette of the marching band. She then attended Troy State Teachers College (now Troy University), where she enjoyed performing in the choir, theatre and as a majorette. She was active in student government and was recognized as a senior class beauty. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Troy, Marie moved to Montgomery to begin teaching elementary school. There she met Eldred “Ted” Burder Teague, Jr. whom she married in 1959. They moved to Birmingham where they began their family.
Marie loved being a mother, Girl Scout leader and volunteer at Camp Winnataska where she served for several summers as the Director of Main and Chico Camps. Marie and Ted moved with their family from Birmingham to Baltimore, MD and then to Germantown, TN. Later they returned to Hoover where they lived for many years, and Marie was an active member of the Riverchase Community. She was a charter member of Riverchase United Methodist Church and Riverchase Women’s Club. Marie was also a longtime member of a literary club which she enjoyed hosting and participating in the lively discussions. Marie cherished her relationship with a special group of friends, affectionately known as the Fifiolas.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, parents and sister Marion Lauder Richburg. She is survived by two children: Ronald David Teague (Carmella), and Marian Dian Teague Johnson, both of Birmingham; grandchildren: Charles Eldred Teague (Rachel) of Birmingham, Mary Katherine Teague of Huntsville, Cassidy Marie Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN, and Avery Clare Johnson of Tuscaloosa; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family on Thursday, September 5th from 5:30 pm. until 7:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will commence at 5:30 p.m. and a reception will immediately follow at Ridout's Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209.
