Martha Praytor Lawrence

Martha Praytor Lawrence, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on May 2, 2020 at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar L. Lawrence, Jr., her son Edgar L. Lawrence, III, her daughter in law Suzanne Lawrence, parents Dennis Morrow and Mabel Morgan Praytor, her sister Julia P. Simpson, nephew Butch Owens, and great grandson Colby Raynard. She is survived by her son William M. Lawrence (Nancy), her daughter Deborah L. Tiffin (Tom), her daughter-in-law Teresa Lawrence, her grandchildren Barbara L. Watkins (Barry) and Michael V. Lawrence (Marley), her great grandchildren Courtney Britt (Andrew), Joshua Watkins, Matthew Watkins, Ben Lawrence, Kate Lawrence, and two great-great grandchildren Oliver Britt and Owen Britt. She also leaves her beloved niece (Susan) and nephews (Dennis and Richard), cherished friends, and extended family members whom she loved dearly.

Martha was a graduate of the University of Alabama and worked with her husband Edgar in the E.L. Lawrence Construction Company. Martha was a dedicated supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide and enjoyed all sports including swimming, tennis and all outdoor activities. Martha loved to travel and also enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, bridge, card games and puzzles.

Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning 10:30 AM at the grave site. The family has requested that any donations be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
