Martha J Peeler

Martha was a member of Garywood Assembly of God in Hueytown, Alabama. She worked for Wimberly Thomas Hardware Company until its closure and later at the UAB School of Dentistry as a supervisor until her retirement in 1998. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard E. & Willie Mae Burns Chappell; her First Husband Mitchell P. Rice; her second husband James (John) W. Peeler; her son, Roger Dale Rice; and her brothers, Fred Lee Chappell and Donald Chappell. She is survived by: son, Wayne Rice (Mary); daughter, Carol Jean Campbell (Fred); granddaughters, Jessica Campbell (Sara) and Amanda Key (Ethan); great-grandsons, John Waylon Key and Jack William Key, sisters: Elaine Chappell, and Linda Wigington (Chuck) brother: James Chappell (Kay); Great Granddaughter, Evelyn and Great-grandson, Mateo as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for Martha will be held Monday, March 31, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209. Burial will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrior, AL. with Pastor Randy Hays officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Dementia Society of America.
