Just thinking about you friend, I miss seeing your smiling face, you made me feel so welcome at work, it was always a wonderful shift when I saw you. Our talks of the Navy and our love of anchors and of course the talks of your children. You loved them so much. I am glad you introduced them to me, they are an absolute blessing, and they are all SOO strong. Lennon hurts my heart so much, you can see every time he comes up there he expects you to be there. His eyes say so much but he still has a smile. They hold on to each other and have you as a guardian angel. I pray that their strength endures each anniversary and holiday as it comes. Love you guys so much!

I am stunned by the passing of Melinda. Melinda was my neighbor for more than 20yrs in Ensley Highlands. My heart is hurting for this loss.  There is not a childhood memory that does not have you in it. I remember your sweet spirit. You will be missed. Prayers go out to your husband Greg and your children and granddaughter.  Love you Melinda. Your neighbor and friend as you always called me Jo Jo Tunello.

Melinda is in a place of serenity, bliss, power, light, the purest love, and ever growing expansion and fulfillment.  I wish I had known her directly, but have learned much through friends. Such a sweet soul!   My love, light and peace to the family left behind.

Melinda & I went to high school together but she was a grade behind me, so we didn't see each other much in school. After we graduated we would see each other around at mutual friends houses. I remember good times hanging out at Cordell Hancocks house (partying). Once we both were married & raising our families we would get together with our babies. Melinda was always very positive and spread happiness and laughter wherever she went. I've always thought the world of her. Now I only wish that we had been able to spend much more time together. I will miss her always.

It seems impossible that Melinda could be so cheerful and thoughtful of others while putting on Shiloh's baby shower, and in a few short months be gone.  It is unbelievable to me.  Always giving, as genuine beneath the sweetness as anyone could be.  I never saw her out of sorts.She made a place for me when I was in Birmingham, so concerned that everything be just so. She truly lived for others.  A light has gone out of this world, but Melinda's light lives on in Shilo, Lael and Lennon.

So sad to just hear of Melinda's passing. We shared a common bond and I miss knowing that she is no longer available at the other end of an email or phone call. Melinda was one of the kindest people I've ever known...am praying peace & comfort  for this beautiful family.

Melinda was the daughter of  Ruth Kenerly, a long time member of Gold Star Wives of America.  After Ruth passed Melinda continued to be a part of our local chapter and helped us in many ways.  Sorry I just learned about her passing. We will truly miss her.

There's little justice in this world to let such a delightful, intelligent, charming, hospitable woman as Melinda Groover be attacked by cancer in her prime.  Always a lady even when faced with official injustice, she endured.  The idea that she hosted Sarah and myself at Shiloh's baby shower this summer here in Boston is shocking in itself.

Greg, Joy and I are deeply sadden to hear of your loss. As you well know life can be cruel and puzzling at times. Your faith and family will get you through this difficult time..Our thoughts and prayers are with you..Love, Bill and Joy

Melinda was such a warm and genuine person. I always loved talking to her because she could light up with her lovely smile and caring attitude. I will miss seeing her at Klari's house and all those conversations about our daughters. I will miss her and pray for your family.

My heart is so sad.  Mrs. Groover was the most loving mother and such a kind person to everyone.  She always made me feel so appreciated.  We will miss her dearly.  Praying for the Groover family.

Melinda was a beautiful friend during a special season of my life. How I treasure the memories of life's little celebrations:  tea parties, birthday parties, lunch dates, late night chats, and play dates with the kids! Melinda had a knack of selecting the perfect gifts, and wrapping them beautifully with her artistic flair; but the best gift she gave was the gift of herself! We will miss you, beautiful Melinda. Go rest high on that mountain.

I am so sad to see the passing of Melinda. I was friends with her in the 8th grade at Bush School. She was so sweet and truly beautiful! I am so sorry for her sweet family for such a great loss. Please lean and love each other!

I am very saddened to hear of Melinda's passing. What a sweet, dear person who had such good and positive energy. I am remembering her as a young mother with Shiloh. So loving and comfortable in that role. I will keep you all

Dear Greg, children, and grandchild, I like to think that Cordell and Melinda are laughing together and telling funny stories.  Both radiated kindness, intelligence, and gentleness, as well as a keen sense of humor.

The flicker of a candle cannot truly express or compare to the bright shining light of Melinda's spirit which touched anyone that came in contact with her. Melinda's sense of humor, tenacity, courage, devotion to others and unfettered love, are examples for all of us to follow.

Shilo and family, I feel honored that I got to meet Melinda at Shilo's baby shower here in Boston.  Her memory lives on through the beautiful, loving children she raised, and through the granddaughter she showered with love.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family.  Melinda was my best friend growing up in Ensley.  After about 35 years, we reconnected and it seemed like our friendship had never missed so many years.  I am so thankful for the few short years we had to spend time together.  I love her, miss her beyond words and will always remember her genuine kindness and caring.

I chose to light a candle because Melinda was a bright joyous light in my life. I knew her from our Monday's at yoga and found her warmth and kindness so palpable. She glowed with love! Oh the joy in heaven upon her arrival but my prayers are with you her beloved family left behind. May God wrap you all in His warmth and comfort and give you peace. She will be missed. Even speaking of her Monday night brought warm smiles from the group when remembering her. Know you are prayed for!

My thoughts and prayers in this time of grief are that you may find peace in knowing your loving mom no longer knows pain, but has been restored and has been welcomed home.

Dear Greg and Family,

I can still hear Melinda's soft voice asking if I was Judy Pharris in the store so many years ago.  I truly believe that God had something to do with us being in that same line.

I am thankful for the renewed friendship and time we spent together over lunches, in the museum, shopping, phone conversations, visits and E-mail.

She was very kind, gentle and generous, as well as being SO sweet.  I am glad to have called her my friend and miss her already.
