Mildred Barnes Goodwin

She graduated from the University of Alabama at the age of 20 with a degree in Library Science. She met and married Morris Leon (Pete) Goodwin in May of 1946, they were married for 48 years, until his death in 1994. They had a daughter, Mary Ann Lindsey who resides in Jacksonville, FL with her husband Ron.

Mrs. Goodwin was an active member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church where she worked for many years in their library, she was also a member of the Trinity Sunday School Class.

Mickey worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama for 22 years and retired early so she could travel the world with her husband Pete. In 2004 she moved to Jacksonville, FL to be with her daughter.

She leaves behind her only daughter, Mary Ann who will cherish the love of her mother for years to come. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, a host of extended family members.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goodwin will be at Ridout’s Valley Chapel Funeral Home, on Thursday, November 15,2012 at 11:00 AM, with a reception following at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
