

Perry Cotten Covington, 86, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away October 11, 2017. Mr Covington was born in Birmingham, and was the son of the late Perry Cleveland Covington and Mabel Lee Cotten Covington. He was a graduate of Phillips High School and graduated Auburn University in Mechanical Engineering and a member of honorary engineering societies, Tau Beta Pi , Pi Tau Sigma. Mr Covington was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Mr. Covington was a Captain in the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War and continued to serve in the Reserves.
After being a member of South Highland Presbyterian church for 30 years, a Deacon and Elder he returned to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, where he had belonged in his early life.
As a Real Estate Appraiser, Mr Covington was a member of the American Appraisal Institute, and was president of Birmingham Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He was an appraiser and mortgage loan officer Birmingham Federal Savings and Loan.
Mr Covington was a member of the Woodworkers Guild, Shades Valley Camera Club, and an avid nature photographer. He did research at Southern Research Institute for NASA. And was a member for 40 years of The Country Club of Birmingham.
Mr Covington is survived by a daughter, Lenlee Bryan Covington Corish, son in law Christopher Lee Corish, of Virginia. Grandsons Matthew Bryan Corish of Charleston, South Carolina and Colter James Corish of Charlottesville, Virginia, cousins Mrs. Mildred Knight, Mrs Virginia Hillhouse.
The family will be forever grateful to his dearest friend Mrs. Sallye Player, Mrs. Sandra Toney, Cathedral Church of the Advent Pastoral care and Hatley Healthcare in Clanton, Alabama.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Cathedral Church of the Advent or your favorite charity.
