

Robert Louis Cloud, age 25, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Dallas and spent his childhood in Auburn and Anniston, AL. He attended Auburn City Schools, Sacred Heart Catholic and The Donoho School in Anniston. He attended Gadsden St. Community College his senior year. He received a full scholarship to UAB graduating with honors in History and Computer Science. He had begun a PhD program at UAB in Engineering. During this time, he interned at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM and more recently in the Dept. of Radiology at UAB as a programmer/analyst.
He travelled to Germany to study the language of scientists, Thailand and Laos to learn meditation, and hiked the Appalachian Trail to find strength. His pictures can be seen at robertcloudphotography.com., a website he developed.
He will be greatly missed by his family; parents Bob and Betsy (Venable) Cloud, sister Mariah Cloud, grandmother Harriet Cloud, aunts and uncles Bland and Carolyn Pugh, James Venable, Lee Venable, Ross and Catherine Venable, Holt and Gretchen Cloud, Margaret and Eason Balch, Catherine and Duane Eitenmiller, Danny Redwine, Harriet Cloud de Monsalve and Rodrigo Monsalve, Bill Cloud, Kim Cloud, Charlie and Cindy Cloud, and Amy and John Howser; and many, many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Louis Cloud and Jimmy and Marie Venable.
Visitation with the family will be at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Monday October 1, 5-7 pm.
