Born to Homer Daniel and Elizabeth Warner Eberhart on June 22nd, 1937, he was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Purdue University, graduating in 1960 with a BS in civil engineering. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and was later to form the Birmingham chapter of the Purdue alumni club.
He spent 25 years in industrial sales of power transmission equipment after which he formed his own company and for 10 years supplied closet organization systems to the residential construction industry. He concluded his working career with 10 years in the steel fabrication industry serving as project manager and estimator for jobs requiring heavy structural steel fabrication.
He moved to Birmingham in 1972 where he met Judy Ducote, the southern belle who was to become his wife in 1974. That same year he and Judy became members of a gourmet supper club that cooked, ate, laughed, and traveled together. Both relationships flourished and they remained the passion and love of his life until his death 45 years later. The two of them were also avid Cajun and Zydeco dancers, traveling to music festivals all over the US, particularly Louisiana. He was active in Meals on Wheels.
