Ronnie “Papa” “OB” Williams passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends. He was a tough as nails S.O.B. who took nothing off of anyone and faced his death with the same courage he maintained throughout life. He never lost touch with his inner-child, constantly playing pranks and finding ways to make jokes in every situation…inappropriate or not. Yet, the quickness of his wit was matched by the speed of his willingness to help. He will be remembered for his easy conversations with anyone he met and his love for all things Disney.
He was husband to Vicki, father to R.J. (Kendall) and Kristi Colvin (Adam), and a brother in blue to numerous officers spanning his long and distinguished career which included time with the Birmingham and Vestavia Hills Police Departments and the Jefferson County Coroner’s office. However, his true calling was realized when he became Papa to Harper (10) and Miles (7) (R.J. and Kendall). Through them his legacy continues to live on.
Ronnie will be honored at a celebration of life on Tuesday, May 18th at Hoover First United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10am and the service at 11am, immediately followed by a graveside burial. The service will also be streamed on YouTube https://uab.zoom.us/j/93826579366
