Sandra Harper was born October 30, 1937 in Shawmut, Alabama. One of her greatest passions was teaching children as evidenced by her 35 years of teaching in Alabama and Prescott, Arizona where she taught English at both the junior and senior high schools. Sandra was installed into the Circle of Excellence at Prescott High School in 1997 after retiring.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and English Education and a Masters in English Education at Auburn University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She earned a Masters in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona University.
The most important things in her life were her family and her friends. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Sloan Jackson Harper, her three children, Paige Sandra, Brent Alan and Derek Jonathan, her grandchildren, Lesley Ellen, Thomas Ryan and Charlie Kate, her brother, Franklin William Peek, and various nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ruby Lanier Peek and her father Franklin William Peek.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20th, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Hoover, AL with a private graveside service being held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21st in Auburn, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital or National Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama is assisting the family.
