

Sarah Lula Davis Moler of Birmingham (formerly of Chelsea), Alabama died on July 4, 2025. Born, March 29, 1932, Sarah was the seventh of eleven children born to Gladys and Louis Davis of Chelsea, Alabama. She outlived all her siblings and was often heard to say, “I miss them.”
Sarah is survived by her beloved daughter, Lori Moler of Vestavia Hills, Alabama. She was insistent that Lori get a good education even if it meant the two of them had to eat buttermilk and cornbread three meals a day. She was very proud that Lori took her advice to heart, got a good education and became a Vice President at Children’s Hospital of Alabama. Sarah is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Corona of Toms River, New Jersey. Jennifer once asked her grandmother why she put on lipstick since she was too old to have a date.
Sarah had a wonderful family growing up, but they were poor. She thought the families in Chelsea that had wells where the rope wrapped around the big spool were very rich. Sarah is survived by three sisters-in-law, Remelle (Jerry), Elaine (Lynn) and Nancy (Clark). She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Woody” Moler; sister, Annie Louie Bennett, California; nine brothers, Osmond Lee “Buster” (Erma), Oklahoma; Edward Rayford (Edith), Tennessee; Steven (Stillborn); Raymond Jackson (Marjorie), Georgia; Jerry Maxwell (Remelle), Birmingham; Carlton Eugene (Maxine), Chelsea; Dwight Dexter, Chelsea; Cecil Lynn (Elaine), Birmingham; and Kenneth Clark (Nancy), Moody. Sarah leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sarah worked 35 years with Alabama Power Company. After retirement, she went to work part-time at Mountain Brook Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. She enjoyed working with the babies in the Early Learning Center. She also volunteered in the library during the conversion to on-line, helped with serving during the senior adult luncheons, and assisted with Parents Night Out. She was an active member of Grace Nelson Agape and Friendship Sunday School classes until her hearing and vision loss prevented her from attending Sunday School and worship services. When her eyes failed, she listened to the bible and books of all variety of genre on tape. Sarah also volunteered at the Salvation Army.
A memorial service will be held on July 10, 2025 at Mountain Brook Baptist Church at 2:00 PM in the Chapel. With visitation held one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
