In the third grade, Steve and his family moved from Hinsdale, IL to Coral Gables, FL. His family lived on Tivoli Avenue where he met numerous lifelong friends. He went on to graduate from Coral Gables High School in 1980 and the University of Florida in 1986. Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in English and, like his father, was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. After college, Steve moved to Chicago, IL where he worked as an artist and creative designer for many companies including Niedermaier, Inc.
Steve was a big baseball fan for the Chicago Cubs, a springer spaniel enthusiast (particularly for the family dog “Daisy”) and was always engaged in current events. Steve enjoyed college football and basketball and was a long-time Florida Gator fan. He later developed a fandom for each of his daughter’s alma maters: Auburn University and Virginia Tech. He lived in Birmingham, AL for 22 years with his daughters, but he always felt connected to Florida where many of his beloved friends and family lived.
He is survived by his daughters Ann and Sarah Inskeep and his brothers Richard (Rick) and Thomas A. (Tom) Inskeep. He was preceded in death by his parents Barbara Snyder and William A. “Skip” Inskeep.
He was a terrific father who had an honest sense of humor, always played games, and had light fun no matter the circumstance. We are pleased to know his suffering is no more and we will continue to think of him everyday.
Steve's family expresses his and their thanks for the excellent medical care to the doctors at Urology Center of Alabama and the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care.
A celebration honoring Steve's life will take place at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, 2612 Lane Park Rd. Birmingham, Alabama at 1:00 p.m. on Friday May 22, 2026.
