Susan "Susie" Sikes

Susan (Susie) Vance Sikes passed away Friday, April 19, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Jane Vance of Birmingham, Al. Survived by her husband Wayne Sikes, sister Patricia Pankow (Gerry) of Tampa, Fl., nephew Rich Pankow (Jenny) of Nashville, Tn, niece Susan Moss (John) of Fredericksburg, Va, niece Kathryn Pankow of Atlanta, Ga. Stepson, Stuart Sikes (Diane) of Austin, Tx and Stepdaughter, Elizabeth Sikes-Wirth (Jason) of Seattle, Wa.

Susie was truly a unique and special lady.... talented, loving, creative,kind, funny, caring and brave. She loved to cook, travel and above all Susie loved her dachshund babies, Hanzel, Holly, Abigail, Wesley, Zachry and Molly.

Susie spent her last years dealing with health issues with all the dignity and grace imaginable. One friend wrote, "She was a beautiful person who could have ruled the world if only her body had not betrayed her"

She had a truly diverse range of friends who all came together under her umbrella of hospitality and love.

She attended Ramsay High in B'ham, graduated with a BS degree from Jacksonville State University and received her Master's Degree in Business from Samford University in Birmingham, Al.

Susie enjoyed a very successful professional career as an executive with the Revlon Corporation and then moved on to build a very successful marketing company, Vance-Sikes Sales, serving as owner and president for twelve years before retiring and selling her company.

She was a long time member of Independent Presbyterian Church where a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation to follow.

Family request, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Community Ministry at Independent Presbyterian Church.
