

Thomas Henk Meter, age 75, of Birmingham, Alabama, peacefully passed away at home on April 14, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished Pa, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Tom was born on October 18, 1949, in Springs, South Africa, to Elizabeth Hand and Henk Meter. He proudly served in the South African Army before moving to the United States, where he attended Southeastern Bible College. It was there that he met the love of his life, Micki, whom he married on December 17, 1977. Together, they raised four children and built a joyful home in Birmingham.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife Micki; their children, Matthew (Callie), Amy (Jeremy), Adam (Anna Kate), and Arjen; his treasured grandchildren, Mia, Parker, and Keaton; and his siblings, Arjen and Jean. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Geoffrey.
A man of unwavering integrity and tireless dedication, Tom worked hard to provide for his family and always did so with a sense of humor and a joyful spirit. He loved spending time with his family, playing games, sharing stories, and filling their home with laughter. Tom had a deep passion for music and loved singing, often lifting the spirits of those around him with his voice.
Tom’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of the Church at Brook Hills and actively served in various ministries, including the ESL (English as a Second Language) and jail ministries, where he touched countless lives with compassion and hope. He was also a proud member of The City Salesman’s Club and Gideons International, dedicating himself to sharing the message of Jesus and spreading the Word of God.
Tom lived to serve others and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22nd beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. at Church at Brook Hills, 3145 Brook Highland Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35242.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Gideons International or to the missions fund at The Church at Brook Hills, honoring Tom’s lifelong commitment to sharing God’s Word and serving others.
