William Francis McCraw, 90, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015. He was born on September 19, 1924. Mr. McCraw was a registered professional engineer and was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after a 30 year career. He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps. He coached American Legion baseball and enjoyed many other sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis and Alma Shelton McCraw, and his sister, Frances Jones of Hopewell, Virginia. Mr. McCraw is survived by his wife, Clara; their children, Monte (Judy) McCraw of Tyrone, Georgia, Carol (Gary) Unruh of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Cynthia McCraw of Birmingham, Alabama and Dr. Barry (Mary) McCraw of Russellville, Arkansas; sister, Col. Doris Cobb of San Antonio, Texas; and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral for Mr. McCraw was held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama, followed by interment at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
