

WILSON ALEXANDER LONG, age 42, Birmingham, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2017, due to choking on food while at dinner with his wife. He was the much beloved son of Thad and Carolyn Long. He is survived by his parents and by his wife, Elizabeth Vest Briggs Long, of Birmingham and a daughter Kacie Grace Long of Golden, Mississippi., his sister Louisa Long Stockman (Norman) of Mobile, a step-daughter Amelia Briggs of Birmingham, two nieces, Anne and Katherine Stockman, and a nephew Will Stockman, all of Mobile, and two aunts, Farrys Rose Long of Dothan and Mary Neill Southerland of Chattanooga. He attended Mountain Brook High School, Jefferson State Community College and was graduated with honors from ITT Tech.. He had been employed in architectural drafting and construction, but in the last several years had suffered from a debilitating illness. Yet some of his happiest years brought great joy through his marriage to his beloved wife Beth. He was a committed Christian. He took special pleasure in outdoor hikes, especially with Beth. A memorial service will be held at Canterbury United Methodist Church Sanctuary on Saturday,, September 23 at 10:00 o'clock a.m., with visitation in the Church Parlor beginning at 9:00.
