Ann G. Schultz, 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital in Inverness, FL. Born on October 10, 1938, in Westfield, NJ, she was the daughter of John and Julia (O’Brien) Garretson and one of three children. On February 25, 1959, she married Nicholas Schultz, her beloved husband of 51 years, who predeceased her on October 28, 2010.
During Nicholas’s Army service, Ann and their family lived in several southwestern states before settling in Bridgewater, NJ, where they raised their children. In 1984, they relocated to Homosassa, FL, where they enjoyed many happy years together.
Ann was a member of the Presbyterian faith and was actively involved in various local organizations, including the Florida Power Corporation Alumni (FPC) and the Citrus County Craft Council. A talented and passionate crafter, she especially loved crocheting animals, which she either gave to her grandchildren or sold at local craft shows. Ann also had a deep love for the outdoors, and one of her favorite pastimes was camping along the East Coast shoreline, whether it was for a weekend getaway or an extended stay. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, often taking her chair to the Gulf to watch the waves, catch the sunset, and relax. Many evenings, she would savor a peaceful meal by the water, followed by a cocktail at home.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dorothy Ross and Joan Zimmerman. She is survived by her three children: Juliann Giard (Fred) of Bremerton, WA; Annemarie Wylie (Steve) of Ballwin, MO; and Nicholas Schultz (Jenny) of Hernando, FL. Ann also leaves behind her grandchildren: Christine Kemp (MB) of Philadelphia, PA; Sarah Kemp-Hastings (Nikki) of Litchfield, ME; William Kemp (Amanda) of Crystal River, FL; Dannielle Pittson of Prairie Home, MO; Hannah Wylie (Caleb) of Kimberling City, MO; Lucas Wylie of Ballwin, MO; and Nicholas, Stewart, Emily, Charlie, and Brooklyn Schultz, all of Hernando, FL. She also cherished her great-grandchildren: Madelynn of Crystal River, FL; Julian, Elijah, and Ari of Litchfield, ME; Adrian, Elizabeth, Liam, Abigail, and Savanna of Prairie Home, MO; and Lyrik of Warrensburg, MO.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported them during this time. Services are entrusted to Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa, FL. For more information, visit www.macrini-wilderfuneral.com.
