

Annie Jane Berry, 91, of Inverness, FL, passed away peacefully on Tues., Jan. 25, 2022 at Vitas Healthcare Hospice after a long battle with dementia. Jane was born on the family farm in Rocky Mount, NC on June 18, 1930 to the late Wilmer Thomas and Nanny Parker. She was the last living child of twelve brothers and sisters. Some of Jane’s fondest memories were working the farm with her siblings throughout her childhood and into her teens. In her early 20’s she met and married Linwood Earl (Jack) Berry, Sr., of Portsmouth, VA. They moved to Chesapeake, VA, where they raised their four children, and in 1969 they moved to Inverness, where they made their home. Jane leaves behind four children: Mary Jane Lee, Betty Jane Pleacher, Wilmer Newton Berry (Debbie) and Linwood Earl (Jack) Berry, Jr. (Ruby); seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Earl (Jack) Berry, Sr. in 1988. Jane was a Southern gentle woman who never met a stranger, as she was kind to everyone. She enjoyed gardening, putting puzzles together, and being surrounded by her family. Friends and family are welcomed to a graveside service at Fountains Memorial Park in Homosassa on Mon., Jan. 31, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings, where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.” Today, there is a star shining bright and we will look up and see our Mom’s star and know she will be with us always.
