Betty J. Downey, formerly of Homosassa, Florida, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Arlington, Texas. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she was born April 4, 1931, to Henry and Elizabeth (Knose) Buchert. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa and was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Vernon Lloyd "Vern" Downey, April 2, 2013.
Mrs. Downey is survived by her brother, Gerald Buchert (wife Lois), Arlington, Texas; nephews Kurt Buchert (wife Jessica), Steven Buchert (wife Sandra) and Dennis Buchert (wife Joann), all of Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, from the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa with Pastor Kip Younger officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Breast Cancer Society. www.wilderfuneral.com
