

Carol A. Big, 83, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., May 21, 2013 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center. A native of Milwaukee, WI, she was born Sept. 9, 1929 to Walter and Frances (Thoma) DeMeyer, one of two children. Carol was a retired executive secretary for the Minute Maid Division of Coca Cola Foods, a position from which she retired in 1992. She moved here from Montvale, New Jersey 22 years ago and of course was a lifelong homemaker and loving mother who raised four children. Carol was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa, where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She loved golf and was a member of Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club. Mrs. Big loved to play games, especially Scrabble, pinochle and mah-jongg and also enjoyed visiting the casino and play her beloved slot machines. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John E. Big, Homosassa; daughter Barbara Stern (Harry), Nanuet, NY; daughter Debra Cusumano (Larry), Woodstock, GA; son Thomas “T.J.” Big (Anne), Congers, NY; daughter Mary Stachnick (Bill), Lake Luzerne, NY; grandchildren Kelly (Rob), Ashley, Julie (Ryan); Chris, Joey, Angela, Danielle, Casey and Megan and great granddaughter Taylor and great grandson Kason, who is due to arrive very soon. Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Becker, on May 13th of this year. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., May 24th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa with Fr. Ronald Marecki, Celebrant. Interment will be private. Friends will be received on Thurs., May 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa.
