

Charles C. "Chuck" Kalbfell, 83, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Wed., Jan. 29, 2025 at Royal Dalton House in Homosassa. A native of Chicago, IL, he was born October 4, 1941. Chuck, as he was known to many, served his country honorably and proudly as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain. He then began a long career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and served at a number of hospitals, including Roseland Community Hospital and Weiss Memorial Hospital, both in Chicago, IL and St. Mary Medical Center of Hobart, IN. Prior to moving to Homosassa full time in 2013, he lived in St. John, IN. While living in Indiana, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Munster, IN. Charles was a world traveler and visited six of the seven continents with his beloved wife Judy; they missed only Antarctica due to weather conditions. Chuck loved to build military models and dioramas, playing computer games, scuba diving, playing backgammon, reading and watching science fiction movies or military movies. He was also an avid photographer; appreciated a glass of fine wine, and absolutely loved his dogs. He was known to say “Just waking up was a great day!” In addition to his mother, Elizabeth (Pintar) Kalbfell, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Beth Kalbfell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Lillian Potocki, and a brother-in-law, Leo Potocki, Jr. Mr. Kalbfell is survived by his loving wife, Judith Kalbfell of Homosassa; daughter Jacqueline Kolp (husband Mark), Chicago, IL and son Gerard Kalbfell (fiancé Diane), Franklin, TN; grandchildren Alexis and Kristen Kolp, both of Chicago, Il and Morgan, Chase, and Connor Kalbfell, all of Franklin, TN, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Lynn Potocki. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tues., May 20, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa, FL with Fr. Kevin Tortorelli, Celebrant. Military Honors will follow at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida.
