

Diane “Dee” Obermeier, 67, of Homosassa, passed away on Fri., Dec. 13, 2013 at Florida Hospital at Connerton, Land O’ Lakes, FL. A native of Koppel, PA, she was born Aug. 28, 1946 to Frank and Marian (Pietrandrea) Tavern, one of four children and moved here 25 years ago from Stonybrook, L.I., NY. Her professional career included positions with the Athletic Association of Three Village School District, Stonybrook, NY; a sales and marketing representative of Holiday Inn, also of Stonybrook, NY as well as a permitting specialist for the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, a position from which she was retired. Dee, as she was known to many, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will always be remembered for her love of family, friends and her 175 boxes of Santas. She is survived by her husband of over 20 years, William F. Obermeier, Homosassa; her children Kathi Maranga (husband Glen); David Venghaus; Bill Obermeier (wife Mary); Kurt Venghaus (wife Nancy); Ken Venghaus (wife Kirsten); Michael Venghaus and Michael Obermeier (wife Deserae); brother Frank Tavern (wife Dee); brother Pat Tavern; sister Mary Jane Novotny (husband Don) and grandchildren Shelby, Daniel, Catie, Emily, Destini, Michael Jr., Kurt and Alden. Friends will be received on Thursday, Dec. 19th from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, where a service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Chaplain Larry Strickland officiating.
