

Jay R. Grimm, 80, of Homosassa, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 30, 2014 at Shands Hospital at UF in Gainesville. A native of Oak Park, Illinois, he was born Nov. 22, 1933 to Ronald and Dorothy (Fitzgibbons) Grimm, one of two children. Jay served his country beginning with enlistment in the the U.S. Marine Corps, then served with the U.S. Air Force, retiring at the rank of Major. His total service between active and reserve duty totaled 41 years. He also served in the N.Y. Air National Guard and his professional career ended after his employment as a pilot for 25 years with U.S. Airways. Mr. Grimm moved to Homosassa 14 years ago from Frederick, Maryland; was a member of Sugarmill Woods Country Club, the Nature Coast English Car Club, Military Officers Association, and the Carroll County Hunt Club, Carroll County, Maryland, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret E. Grimm, Homosassa; son Eric Grimm (wife Faith), Los Angeles County, CA; son Bruce Grimm (wife Lisa), Westminster, MD and son Stuart Grimm (wife Sandra), Bethlehem, PA; sister Maureen Rosa, New Smyrna Beach and grandchildren Alexander, Philip, Meighan, Jonathan, Cara, McKenzie, Thomas and Henry. Friends will be received on Mon., Nov. 3, 2014 from 11:30 to 12:30 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, where a celebration of Jay’s life will begin at 12:30 PM.
