

John (Jack) Joseph Holden, age 86, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on November 9, 2024. Born on May 30, 1938 in The Bronx, New York, he was a devoted husband to Catherine Veronica Holden and loving father to John J. Holden, Jr., James L. Holden and Patrick F. Holden.
John is survived by his wife Catherine; his sons John, James and Patrick Holden; his daughters-in-law Lynda and Cynthia; granddaughter Arden Holden; grandson Garrett Holden; granddaughter Alexis Holden; granddaughter Jacquelyn Holden Bickett; grandson-in-law Jerry Bickett; granddaughter Alexandra Holden Barbarovich and grandson-in-law Mitchell Barbarovich. John was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Suzanne Holden.
John graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1960, receiving a Masters of Science Degree and a commission in the United States Navy. John received his Masters Degree in Engineering from Union College, Schenectady, New York.
He sailed around the world working for numerous shipping companies. His early career was with the General Electric Company Nuclear Division. Later, he worked at nuclear powers plants thoughout the country. His last position was with Florida Power at the Crystal River CR3 plant.
John was a man of kindness, generosity, humor and intelligence. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and the Yankees.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Crystal River, Florida with Fr. Richard Stradomski, Celebrant. Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida.
We find comfort in knowing John's legacy lived on through the love he shared with his friends and family.
