Mark Brian Caldwell, 59, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL. A native of Omaha, NE, he was born Nov. 29, 1966 to Dan W. and Judy Ann (Smith) Caldwell, one of two children. His parents moved to Colorado when he was an infant, and Mark lived there until four and a half years ago, when he moved to Homosassa with his beloved wife Debbie Caldwell, who survives him.
Mark was employed by Science Applications International Corporation (known in the industry as S.A.I.C.), having been drawn to technology from an early age. In addition, he was Technical Support II for a Department of Defense contract, supporting the United States Air Force. As a gamer during his teen years; news from China recognized his amazing feat of longevity in gaming, reaching levels no one else had ever accomplished. Mr. Caldwell was also an excellent chess player and online he challenged people in foreign countries, as well as in the United States. A very personable, kind and giving person, he had many friends and was quick to help others in need. Mark loved taking long, exploratory drives, enjoying the beautiful scenery. His perfect day would be to take a beautiful drive and just enjoy being together with his wife Debbie, talking about many things and just enjoying the world in which he lived. He enjoyed eating his family recipe spaghetti and meatballs, authentic Mexican food, and anything barbequed properly. He enjoyed the music genres of the 70’s and 80’s and Electro-Techno and listening to Enya, which especially inspired him to explore his talent for writing and complete many research and term papers in college for his Bachelor’s Degree in History, which he earned from Colorado State University.
Mark grew up climbing every mountain in Manitou Springs, Colorado and loved bowhunting, but quit because he did just not enjoy it anymore. However, his biggest joy and most important thing to him was to study, research and learn more about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to his grandparents, Robert T. and Jeanette Caldwell and his mother, Judy Ann Caldwell, who passed on Dec. 28, 2014, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard T. Caldwell, who passed on Aug. 30, 2023, and an aunt, Diane Wolcott. In addition to his loving wife Debbie Caldwell of Homosassa, Mark is survived by his father Dan W. Caldwell of Lecanto, FL. Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida.
