

Jim was born October 16, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended schools in Boardman, Ohio and graduated from Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio. He attended Case Western University following High School and then enlisted in the US Navy.
Jim held a number of different jobs throughout his working life, as well as owning and operating several businesses. In December 1994 at the age of 48 he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of South Florida at St. Petersburg. He studied business and computer science and spent the remainder of his years working with computers, trouble shooting problems and setting systems up for clients as well as for friends and relatives.
Jim leaves behind a brother, John Cowan and sister in law Deborah, and a sister, Mary Beth Stanek and a brother in law John Stanek. He also leaves behind 2 nieces and 4 nephews and 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Marshall and Elizabeth Cowan, formerly of Homosassa Springs.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 6th at 11:00 am at the Wilder-Fountains Funeral Home, followed by burial at the Fountains Memorial Park in Homosassa Springs. Condolences may be offered at www.wilderfuneral.com
