Warren F. “Skip” Guss III, 85, of Homosassa, FL, passed away suddenly on May 13, 2026. A native of Trenton, NJ, he was born Nov. 14, 1940 to Warren F. Guss, Jr. and Adelia (Woolman) Guss, one of three children. Skip, as he was known to everyone, moved here in 2013 from The Villages, FL, where he had lived for ten years. He was a retired Quality Control Inspector for Mack Trucks, Inc., retiring in 2001 with 25 years and one day of service. Mr. Guss was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa and while living in Pennsylvania when he was younger, was very involved with his parish there, especially in Youth Group and Cursillo. When Skip lived in South Carolina he loved to fish, being on his boat and being on the lake. Skip enjoyed being a big part of his community social club. When Skip moved to The Villages, he took up bird watching and started making birdhouses for blue birds. He made over 100 birdhouses for the community both there and here in Walden Forest. He loved to play golf while living in the Villages and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles and could be heard yelling at the TV regularly! A perfect day for Skip would be waking up early, grinding his well-sought-out coffee beans and brewing a pot of fresh coffee using his Bunn coffee maker. He would enjoy this with neighbors and new friends he greeted with his hearty “Good Morning”. Skip would then enjoy breakfast with his wife Chris, discussing the day ahead and letting her know what he wanted to cook for dinner (along with a trip or two to Publix). Skip would then settle down to cheer or bemoan his Eagles and then his Flyers. Skip loved life to the fullest and everyone who knew him understood that he enjoyed being a big part of their lives. In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by a brother, James (Jim) R. Guss; first wife Carol (Hansen) Guss; daughter Deborah (Guss) Aselton; infant daughter Nannette Loraine Guss, and a son-in-law, Nelson Carter. Skip is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Christina “Chris” Guss, Homosassa; children Warren F. Guss IV (wife Babette), Slatington, PA; Jacqueline (Guss) Craft, Brookings, SD and Tammy Carter, Columbia, SC; grandchildren Patrick Guss (wife Melissa), Slatington, PA; Brett Emily Guss, also of Slatington, PA; Jeremy Guss (wife Megean), Brookings, SD; Michael Haskell, Columbia, SC; Robert Haskell, Jacksonville, FL; Collin Aselton (wife Gera), Jacksonville, FL; Brendon Aselton, Arizona; Mallory Guss, Ft. Meyers, FL and step grandchildren Mackenzie and Megan, both of South Carolina and eighteen great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa will be announced for a later date. Care entrusted to Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida.
