William Dathon Hampton, Sr., loving husband and father, known as Capt Bill to his family and friends, of Crystal River died Mon., May 30, 2011 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center, Crystal River. Born in Brooksville, FL, he was a life long residence of Citrus County and a third generation native fishing guide and a former mortgage broker and real estate agent. At the age of 24 he became a tug boat Captain and later a vessel Captain for SunCruz Casino. He was a graduate of Lake Weir High School and St. Pete Junior College.
Capt. Bill is preceded in death by his father, William H. Hampton and uncles, Theo and Paul Hampton. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Cindy Hampton of Crystal River, son; Christopher Michael (Molly), James Robert (Christina), William Dathon Jr. (Paige with child) and Mathew Lee, daughters; Tonya Renee (Thomas) and Jackie Lee (Jack), mother; Joanie West (Clyde) and step-mother Esther Hampton; brothers George (Luann), Jay (Kristi), Henry (Katie) and Wade (Penny with child); sister Mary (John); nieces and nephews Jennifer, Jillian, Jessica, Alexis, Blake, Graylon, Preston, Austin, Summer, Gunnar, Chase, Lauren, Kay Lyn, Logan, Willie, John John, Ann Sophia, Marilyn and Scarlett; uncle George (Heidi); great-aunts Hazel and Mozelle;
aunts Alice (Tony), Susie (Jim) and Joyce; many loving cousins; grandchildren, Marina, Miles, Manning, Tyler, Tanner, Edward, Bailey, Avery, Aubrie and Rebecca.
Friends will be received from 5 pm until 8 pm, Fri., June 3rd at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs. A memorial service will be held 11 am, Sat., June 4th at the Crystal River United Methodist Church, 4801 N. Citrus Ave., Crystal River. There will be no viewing at the church.
