Ashlyn Mokihana Choy was born July 10, 1952, to Blossom Jane Mokihana Choy and Gerald Chung Suk Choy. The eldest of seven children, Ashlyn spent her early formative years in Kalihi, the hearth of the Kekino ‘Ohana, and later Kane’ohe, where her parents moved to continue raising their family.
Ashlyn is the mother to three children, Kelly, Jonathan, and Jaridan, whom she raised on her own and how she wanted. They were by her side when she passed on December 18, 2025.
Once all her children were in grade school, Ashlyn sought higher education at Canon’s Business College. She then joined the Honolulu Police Department as a Messenger and later moved to the Record’s Division, from where she retired in 2014 as a Fingerprint Examiner.
Ashlyn has touched the lives of many with her warmth, loyalty, and wisdom. An immense loss, the breadth and depth of which will echo for years to come.
Services will be held on January 19, 2026, at the Borthwick Maunakea Chapel in Nu’uanu from 2pm to 5pm. Light refreshments will be served.
