Blue sky is our roof, 
Green trees our pillars, 
Yellow earth our bed,
White clouds our blankets.

Our warmth from the sun,
Our drink from the rain,
Bamboo for our food,
The rocks for our play.

Birds sing for our joy,
With beasts we have games,
Insects around us,
And sweet-smelling flowers.

Who cares about us?
We care about non;
We never know hate
And so we are free.

No worry or fuss,
No hurry or bustle;
We play and we eat
And live happy days.

We live a short time,
We’ll be here again,
Death comes after birth 
And birth after death.

This, then, is our life,
Without loss or gain;
We are immortals,
What more do we want?

You brought so much joy to my life. Rest in peace, Barbara. You left a big puka behind in our weekly bibala.

How blessed was I to have Barbara as my auntie/friend in Hawaii! I am forever grateful for the guidance and generosity she (and her entire family) offered to me during my years of living in Hawaii. 💕
