She was a proud resident of Hong Kong and Honolulu. Chuen Wing worked hard all her life and always had that never-give-up spirit. She was loved and appreciated by her employers in the colony. She moved from Hong Kong to Hawaii in 1984, which was a big adjustment for her, especially the language. For someone who never received any formal education, she worked extra hard to learn everything. She went to an adult English class every evening and spent a great amount of time studying and reviewing notes, even on the weekends. Her devotion to the family, determination and persistence were admirable, and she was the best role model for her children. During her free time, she loved to travel, play mahjong, and attend frequent family gatherings. Cooking was her other passion, she had prepared many delicious meals for the family’s enjoyment.
Chuen Wing Chan is survived by her loving children: Leslie So Wah Lau, Danny Chin Pang Wong (Tracie), Danny Chin Yin Wong (Frances), and Carmen King Wah Pong (Erick). She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Melanie, Brandon, Kelvin, Caryn, Devyn, and Aidan and four precious great grandchildren: Hunter, Aurelia, Amelia, and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wing Keung Wong.
A memorial service and viewing to honor Chuen Wing’s life will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, 8:30 am at Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel. Burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe.
