Her bedroom was a vibrant display of colorful flower arrangements, balloons, and cherished photographs of her granddaughters.
Doris was born in London England and was the youngest of 9 children. She grew up in a tumultuous time with World War II brewing in the years ahead. She told many stories about her younger years hearing the sirens blast throughout London and having to hide in the Subway tunnels while the bombing raids occurred overheard. Doris and George met in 1960 at Royal Air Force Base, Alconbury just outside of London while George was starting his lifelong career in the United States Air Force. Life as the wife of a military family came with many challenges, and the family moved to new locations every two years. The final transfer was from England to California and to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1977.
