Edith Ingeborg Park was born on October 25, 1930 in Diessen Ammersee, Bavaria, Germany and passed away in her Aiea home on November 12, 2021. It was in Germany where she met and married Joseph Park on October 5, 1948. She moved with her new husband to his home in Hawaii where they raised two sons, Terence and John.
Edith worked as a jewelry designer and goldsmith at Mings and Maui Divers, then partnered with her good friend Hildgund Weeks for a time in downtown Honolulu before opening a jewelry workshop in Aiea. In the early 70s, she and her brother Paul Armbruster opened Ingeborg's Goldsmiths Inc in the Pearlridge Shopping Center. Throughout her career her "one of a kind" handmade rings, broches, pendants and earrings she designed were cherished by her customers. They would explain what they had in mind or in most cases leave the design totally up to Edith's imagination. They were always so happy to see how beautiful the finished piece looked.
Edith loved animals - Her love for animals started early on as she helped her veterinarian grandfather tend to neighboring animals on nearby farms in Bavaria. She had lots of cats - at one time 13 or more when living at her home in Halawa Heights. She was also "mom" to mini dachshunds Fenwick, Sandy and Sam; bunny Snowball, Spotty the cat and in recent years any cat or chicken that showed up in her backyard.
Edith loved to cook for family and close friends. She credits husband Joe's mom for teaching her to cook. She'd always call to come pick up a dish she made that day. Her menu was extensive but her most requested specialties were cucumber kimchee and namul.
Her home was her pride and joy. She loved working around the house and especially in her yard full of beautiful fruit trees, plants and flowers.
She will be missed and forever in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by husband Joseph and brother Klaus Armbruster (Eva). Survived by sons Terence (Raynell) and John Park; grandchildren Joelene (Dennis) Santa Maria, Angela (Fabian) Baker, Jamie (Josh) Lospoc, and Ali Park; great grandchildren Kylie Park, Jamin Fonseca, Shayna and Rachel Santa Maria, and Jackson Lospoc; and a great great grandson Kyron Goo; brothers Paul (Esther) and Hans (Andre) Armbruster; and many nieces/nephews and their families.
