After graduating from Belmont High School and attending Los Angeles City College, Chris enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. Chris was assigned to the USS Ranger CV-61 aircraft carrier whose missions included 130 days in the Persian Gulf during the Iran Hostage Crisis. He later returned as a civilian contractor to HQ PACAF FM and transitioned into a Civil Service position in the same office until he retired in April 2022.
A selfless, affectionate and hard-working individual, Chris always put the needs of others ahead of his own. Relatives and friends embraced his generous spirit and witty sense of humor. Chris was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand and to listen to those who needed a sounding board, offering words of comfort at any time. He enjoyed many a pride-filled, grill-side moments, particularly those in which he took pleasure in seeing smiles on faces and hearing his favorite word “yum” after guests took that first bit of his barbecued ribs, chicken or whatever was on deck that day. Another important passion was his love of motor vehicles, evidenced by his love of his unforgettable 1970 Mach 1 Mustang and his extended motorcycle touring with his longtime bike crew buddies.
Chris spent the past 24 years married to Lisa, where they together learned and lived the importance of compromise in navigating through plenty to achieve life’s balance. A devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church Makakilo for many years, Chris relied upon his faith at all times with deep humility.
Shortly after his spring 2022 Federal retirement, he and Lisa journeyed to Europe where amongst other travel highlights in Portugal, Spain and Italy, they fulfilled a shared dream to visit the sacred Vatican.
