Kenneth Kwai Chew Lee was born on March 26, 1944, and lived a life defined by service, hard work, and deep love for his family. He passed at the age of 81 at Straub, surrounded by many of the people who meant the most to him. Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie; his children Marissa, Travis, and Krista Ann; Krista Ann’s spouse Daniel; and his last remaining brother Russell Lee. His family was the center of his life and one of his greatest sources of pride.
Ken graduated from Kaimukī High School and later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Economics. He also served his country with honor, completing two tours in Vietnam.
Over the years, Ken worked in a variety of roles. He was a part owner of Kris Kringle’s Den and worked at Foodland, Goodwill and the State of Hawaiʻi, where he helped support people in building meaningful work and independence.
Outside of work, Ken found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gardening, spending time fishing, and bringing people together; especially at holiday gatherings where his stuffed mushrooms became a beloved tradition. Above all else, Ken cherished being a dad and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We love you dad.
